Open house!

Posted December 7, 2011

This is a special day for us. We’ve been hard at work during the fall, trying to get all pieces together. Today we’re  extremely excited to announce that Readmill is now open for everyone.

This means that anyone using an iPad, Kindle or Android phone can sign up and start sharing highlights, reading data and other cool things around books. But just opening up isn’t enough, we’re also releasing two major updates, version 2 of our iPad app as well as a bookmarklet for your Kindle, here’s what’s new:

Readmill for iPad is a simple, beautiful reader that tracks your reading progress seamlessly while you read. In our new version you can also see highlights you’ve done inside of the book as well as browse and discover highlights from others. This opens up for authors and readers to engage deeper with the story and link to a specific part of a book. For example check Aaron Gustafson’s own commentary on his latest book

Our brand new bookmarklet is the way to use Readmill if you have a Kindle. Just drag it into your browser, head to kindle.amazon.com and press the Readmill button. It will let you share books you read and highlights you’ve made with your friends on Readmill.

This update marks the first step towards our vision. We believe that books have a big future and we’re determined to be a part of it and to make a difference during next year. We have a lot of interesting things coming up in the next few weeks so keep an eye on the blog and our tweets, and thanks for using Readmill.
